A Complete Guide For Solving A Sudoku Puzzle Part 2
So, we began working through the steps to solving Sudoku puzzles in the previous guide. Here, we’ll complete that, and by following what the guide shows, you will learn learn how to improve at sudoku.
Step 1: Check out the “missing grid”
Every Sudoku puzzle is missing a grid. Once you place the grid, things become easier. Enter the numbers 1 through 9 in a tic-tac-toe pattern in all of the blank boxes.
Step 2: Erase across
For all the numbers you have in the puzzle, erase that number from the grid you wrote it in. So, if you have a 6 pre-printed, erase every other 6 in the row. When you’re done, draw a line across the top of the number to show that the specific line is done.
Step 3: Erase down
Take that same number and erase all corresponding numbers in every box of the same column. When you’re done, you should also draw a line down the edge of the number to show that you’re ready to move onto the next step.
Step 4: Erase all around
This is the last step for that specific number. Erase all of the specific number that you have in the same quadrant. Then, draw a circle around the number to show that you’re done with it. Since you’ve eliminated all of the number from the other blocks, it shows that the specific number can’t show in any of the blocks anymore. Continue this pattern, repeating the same steps for other pre-printed numbers in the puzzle

Step 5: Repeat everywhere
Take the steps showed in the previous guide and repeat them for all of the numbers printed in the puzzle. The entire point of the across, don, and circle marks on all of the numbers is to ensure that you’re able to solve the puzzle without any interruptions. By drawing the lines, you will be able to retrace your steps in good time. Also, keep in mind that if a number has all three marks, you at least know that all the corresponding numbers have bene filled and you can move on.
The block is done, and you’re free to move on.
Step 6: Check for answers
The elimination process would have you mark quite a lot already, but you’ll find that you only have one answer left. Most likely, this is the answer to that block. Write the number large in the block, then use it as your pre-printed figure. Eliminate all of the around, across, and down numbers the way you’ve done earlier.
Step 7: Other eliminations
Keep in mind that you might not always be so lucky. Sometimes, you might not be able to erase all the numbers and have one left in a block.
If that’s the case, then check for eliminations. Look down each column, and if you find a number that appears only in one block in a column, that’s probably the answer. Write the number in large, then treat it like a pre-printed number.
Step 8: Check the quadrants
If you’ve looked across columns and rows, then try looking in the group. If you find that one number in the group only appears in one block, then this is your answer. Make the number bigger, then treat it like your pre-printed number.
Step 9: Done and dusted
At the end of the day, you’ll find the numbers in their rows, groups, or columns. Draw the lines and circles, so you don’t get interrupted along the way. Slowly but surely, you will solve the puzzle.
